David Russell comes to the Hollywood community by way of many different roads. His background is varied encompassing a deep love of acoustic and orchestral music with an extensive knowledge of technology.

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance, David earned a Master of Music degree in Media Writing and Production from the University of Miami. He then returned to Virginia to teach Computer and Electronic Music classes at the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University. While in Virginia, David was also a contributing composer, arranger and Music Director for the world premiere of The Red Badge of Courage, a musical.

Soon after relocating to Southern California, David worked as an assistant to composer John Frizzell. It was here that he worked as an orchestrater on the movies The Rich Man's Wife, Undertow and The Empty Mirror. The latter of which David served as head orchestrator and was shown at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival. He also worked as an arranger/orchestrater on The Precinct, a television pilot for Big Ticket Television and contributed to the music preproduction for Crime of the Century and Beavis and Butthead Do America.

David has also worked with composer Shirley Walker as an orchestrator and sequencer programmer on the film Turbulence as well as recording and mixing the score to the NBC mini-series Asteroid and an episode of HBO's animated series Spawn.

Other films and projects David has worked on include The Siege (transcription); Universal's Islands of Adventure (composer asst.); Superman: The Animated Series (orchestrator); The Stupids (transcription); McHale's Navy (asst. orchestrater); and The King and I (composer asst.).

As a composer, David has worked in TV, Film and Interactive media. In addition to Black Scorpion, David also scored the film The Phantom Eye for Roger Corman which aired as both a feature and 35 episode serial during American Movie Classics' MonsterFest. He also scored the game Disney's Math Quest with Aladdin for Disney Interactive.

David's recent film credits include White Bread, an independent feature starring Jenny McCarthy; the award winning film The Nest and the upcoming feature Wicked Spring, a story of the Civil War.
